Despite Berkhamsted losing two of their three friendly matches this week there was great success for Kevin Clarke and David Brown when they  bounced back from disappointment in the Watford & District Triples final to win the Pairs Championship in the afternoon. They defeated the father and son pair of David and Dylan Martin from Garston 23-6 in an entertaining and good humoured match. Earlier that week David Martin had reached the National Singles semi-finals at Leamington and won the District Singles before playing the pairs final.

In the first of the Friendly matches against Chalfont St. Giles Berkhamsted lost by 82 shots to 86; a top rink was achieved by Luke Swan, Anne Cutting and Alan Jones. A recovery was made when Berkhamsted beat Aylesbury Town by 65 shots 59 with a top rink of Ray Kessler, Del Root and Jackie Cormack. However the euphoria was short lived, in the other match against St. Albans, which was stopped at 16 ends through heavy rain, resulted in a loss  by 60 shots to 67 despite the effort of the top rink of Luke Swan, John Bell, Anne Cutting and Tom Presland.
