Our playing season runs from late April through to the end of September with plenty of opportunities for the general public to come and have a go. Bowls is game that can help improve or maintain your health and is strongly advocated both in the UK and Australia for its beneficial effects.
We hold a PUBLIC OPEN DAY at the start of the season at (see our fixture list) which we welcome all non members to roll some woods on the hallowed turf followed by FREE TASTER SESSIONS THROUGHOUT THE WHOLE OF MAY. Following the success of these two events over the past three years we are pleased to announce its continuation for the 2017 season.
The taster sessions in May are available on Tues & Thurs afternoons between 2 – 4pm and on Friday from 6pm onwards.
These sessions are coincided with our Club afternoons/evening so we always have members down there to greet and assist you. The dress code is totally informal, all we ask you to bring is a pair of flat soled shoes so no harm is done to the green. All other equipment is provided and the length of time you spend having a practice is entirely up to you. You can come down as many times as you like during May which gives you the chance to learn the game, meet our members, see our facilities and get some of your friends or family to come down as well.
Throughout the season there will be other opportunities to try the game and we would ask you to check our publicity for details nearer the time.
We are also glad to say that any person who decides to take up membership will get HALF PRICE in their first season. Please see our membership costs at bottom of page.
Download your Application Form, print it and return the completed form to the address shown on the form.
We were delighted and hugely proud to announce the launch of this section in 2012 and had fifteen members making us possibly the largest outdoor Junior section in the County.
In 2014 we expanded it further through our existing Juniors, local schools, Youth Centres & other visiting organisations. Last year we recruited another eight members including our second girl and we also had a disabled lad playing in his wheelchair reinforcing the message above that the game is all about skill and NOT strength. Girls can compete on an even level with the lads and there are very few sports where this is possible
So the message to all youngsters is this – YOU could be playing for ENGLAND in a few years time if you get started now, there really is a fantastic opportunity to do that playing bowls!
U19’s have a designated taster session every Friday throughout MAY between 4pm – 6pm.
School Holidays will also have FREE opportunities made available nearer the time. (watch this space)
Please see our U19 Section for further information about all the benefits of being a member at our Club.
