2024 Competition Formats:  4-Wood Singles competitions (except Veterans & Newcomers) – 21 shots; Pairs –18 Ends; Two-wood Singles – 21 Ends; Veterans Singles – 2 sets of 9 Ends (plus  a 3-End Tie-break if needed); Newcomers Singles – 11 Ends; Pedlow Trophy (Aussie Pairs) – 15 Ends.

Pedlow Trophy (Aussie Pairs)

The date was switched from that shown on the Fixture List to Sunday August 4th in order to accommodate the possibility of a potential Fixture Clash should we progress to the Semi Final/Final of the Watford & District Griffin Cup on 11th August.

Unfortunately, a small number who had previously signed up for the Fours on 11^th are no longer available to make the 4^th.  At the risk of causing more confusion, if we do not progress into the Griffin Cup Finals on August 11^th, then we could revert to the original date of August 11^th. I would be prepared to do this, so it would be helpful if you would indicate on your entry your availability on one or both of the 4^th & 11^th August.

Triples

This is a second call for entries into this year’s Clubs Mixed Triples Competition which is scheduled to take place on Sunday 18th August and Wednesday 21st August.

Remember the two dates are offered to accommodate the large numbers in previous years that wanted to take part and for those who are unable to play on one of those days.  So on your entry please indicate if you are available to play on the Wednesday, the Sunday or both.  You will only be playing on one of those days, so only one entry fee (£2.50) is payable

Once the entries are in I will let all entrants know on which of the days they are playing.

As in previous years, the play for the day is Gala style with teams being divided into leagues – each team playing 3 ‘mini’ matches of 8 ends (two in the morning & one in the afternoon).

I shall be looking for a total of more than 36 Entrants – Don’t be put off from entering!

This is another perfect competition (along with the Club Fours) for our newer & less experienced Bowlers to take part in, and be among their fellow members. Entrants are allocated into 3 groups – Inexperienced, Very Experienced & the remainder. One entrant from each group is then drawn to form the teams, whilst ensuring as far as possible that there are at least one male & one female in each team!. Teams are announced just prior to the start of play!

Please put your match scorecards into either the ‘S’ or ‘Scorecard’ Pigeon hole under the main Noticeboard and mark up the Draw sheet accordingly.  If the Competition Secretary does not get a match scorecard then he MAY assume the match not to have been played by the due date and disqualify both entrants!
