Potters Resort 6-10 November 2023

As part of the 2023 Winter Social Programme 34 Club Members went to the Potters Resort in Norfolk between the 6th and 10th November for one of their mid-week breaks. It was a ‘Bowls Tournament’ break and 20 of our members party took part in that event which drew teams from all over the Country. However, that was not the reason that the majority of those members went; they went to have a good time trying out the many activities that the resort offers along with good food and excellent entertainment throughout the day and well into the evening/early hours (all of this being well ‘lubricated’ by the all inclusive drinks available!).

On the Bowls front, our most successful quartet (Janet Hart, Steve Burrell, Colin Shortall & Kevin Clarke) reached the Quarter Finals – no mean feat considering they (and all our teams) were up against teams from ‘specialist’ Indoor Bowling Clubs. Unfortunately they lost that match on an extra end. Our other teams had mixed results with the team of John Bell, Sheila Bell, Paul Sims & Bob Anderson registering their first point in the 2 years that we have gone to Potters with a drawn match, However, as last year, the matches were played in good spirit and some of our opponents found it hard to believe that we only played outdoor bowls!

Off the rinks some of our members achieved medals & prizes in participation in events such as quizzes, welly-wanging, kurling and rifle shooting! whilst others were excelling at early morning dips in the swimming pool, trying out pickleball and having a go at Pitch & Stick. We also did our best to make a massive hole in the all-inclusive Food & Drinks on offer!!!!!
