Annual Gala 2017
Our Annual Mixed Triples Gala Day is held on the late May Bank Holiday Monday each year; this year that Monday was May 29th.
28 teams from: The Met Police, Hazells, Bushey, Garston, Little Gaddesden, Herts, Abbots Langley, Kitcheners, Kings Langley, Dunstable, Ruislip, Aylesbury Town, Hendon and Berkhamsted Bowls Clubs took part.
The weather was threatening most of the day but held out until the cloudburst in the last 10 minutes but spirits were high when the 28 teams competed to win prize monies totalling £270.
Winners – £120: Kitcheners Bowls Club – The Recycled Teenagers (Sue Halsey, David Richardson, Ian Davis)
Second – £90: Bushey Bowls Club – The Bushey Wanderers (Mavis Hendry’s team)
Third – £60: Herts Bowls Club – JCB (Brian Hamilton’s team)

The prize monies were sponsored by the following local businesses who have all been very supportive over the last few years.
The following local businesses donated great raffle prizes :
Petals; Traveltime; Bills; Boots; Roy Chapman Motors; The Rex Cinema, Tring Brewery, Curry Garden, Tesco, Cook, The Highwayman, Waitrose, The Olive Tree, Temptation, Acorn Pharmacy and The Watermill Hotel (Bourne End)
while club members provided over 100 tombola prizes.
The bric-a-brac stall, run by Mary Cave, Janet Jackson and Pat Oakley, took £64 which will be donated to The Hospice of St Francis. There was also a Cake stall and a ‘Guess-the-weight-of-the-Cake’ made by club member, Ken Maynard, who also ran the very popular Bacon Roll stall.
