CORONA LEAGUE FORMAT

The League has several divisions, most will have five players in each division, everyone plays each other in their division (4 games) to complete that session. There will be three separate sessions that run from June through to September (see dates in the image above)

– Winner and runner-up of each divisions will be promoted to the next higher division with the two lowest players demoted to the next lower level.
– Winner of each session is decided by league points. If a tie, then by shot differences, if still tied, the result between the two players is counted
e.g. If both players have 10 points with a 14 shot difference but Player A beat player B in their match, player A would be the winner of the division.
– There are normally 5 players in each division, so each player will play 4 matches in the session.
– Players mutually arrange their games through what’s app groups set up for each division, we have found this is the simplest and easiest way to arrange & agree dates
– All matches must be played by the last day of each session.
– The Winner of each game will be the first to 16 shots
– The Winner will receive 3 league points and loser 0 points. Exception: If loser scores 12 or more shots in the game, they receive one league point, and if they lose by 15 – 16, they receive 2 points.
e.g. Game ends with score 16 – 13; winner gets 3 points and loser gets 1 point; Game ends with score 16 – 15; winner gets 3 points and loser 2 points.

NOTE:
In the event that two players cannot agree a date to play a match, they must play it on the final day of each league programme. If, for whatever reason, the match does not take place in the allotted time, both players will not score any league points or shots.
Players initially are encouraged to arrange matches in the afternoon or evening slots, as to not interfere with the separately arranged ‘roll-up’ matches.

MATCH GUIDELINES
– Each match is managed by the players themselves, no marker is reqd, players keep the score.
– Dress wear is totally informal, only requirement is trainers as footwear.
– Normal bowls rules apply to the length of jack, otherwise it’s a roving jack. Do not centre it as normal! If a jack finishes within one metre of the perimeters it must be moved a metre in from the rink width markers to start.
– Coin toss winner has the option of playing first or second to start the game.
Note: If the jack is cast illegally (too long or short), the jack passes over to the opponent to cast it. If this is also an illegal cast, jack is placed on “T” and first player may place mat to their liking.
– On completion of each end, both players will determine shots scored and the winner of end will cast the jack first.
– Scoreboards and scorecards should be used to keep a record of the correct score at the completion of each end
– Visiting the head is allowed – only after two bowls have been bowled by each player
– Jack maximum length – a jack lying within two metres of the green edge must be moved back two metres from the edge on the same line before play starts (not centred, but put back to its maximum legal length).
