We intend to resume our annual club knock-out competitions this season, with one exception: there will be NO Open Handicap Singles; in its place will be the Open Corona Singles League (run by Gary Fisher) that proved popular last season. The competitions are listed in the Competition Entry Form below – please note the entry closing dates given on the form.
Formats: Singles competitions (except Newcomers) – 21 shots; Pairs -18 Ends; Two-wood Singles – 21 Ends; Veterans Singles – 2 sets of 9 (plus 3 end Tie-break if needed); Newcomers Singles – 11 Ends; Pedlow (Aussie Pairs) – 15 Ends.
Start Date: Saturday June 12th (except Novice/Newcomers – Saturday 19th June)
Triples & Fours to be Gala style as in previous years, with entries now or later in July. Additional Triples Day included should numbers be similar to those of the last two years. Entrants will be sorted into 3 groups for Triples & 4 groups for Fours in consultation with & guidance by the current Team Selection selection panels.
Newcomers singles is principally aimed at getting Newcomers or inexperienced players experience with competition play – it will be a league format with a short knock-out section at the end. It is hoped that more experienced members will make themselves available to mark these matches and be able to offer guidance to the players.
For any competition, 8 entries is the viable minimum.
Entry Fee to remain at £2 per person/per competition.
If you’d like to enter a Pairs competition (other than Pedlow Trophy) & don’t have a partner, or if you have any questions/issues please contact our Competition Secretary Paul Sims (07900 638229 or firstname.lastname@example.org); he may be able to find a partner (but no GUARANTEES!)
